My work deals with acoustical phenomena and explorations of the human body within the musical performance. Most of my pieces also encompass a relationship between the human body (its movement, its sounds, and placement on stage) and politics. My pieces have been performed and commissioned by ensembles such as the International Ensemble Modern Academy (Frankfurt), Neopercusión (Madrid), The [Switch~Ensemble], Ensemble Motocontrario (Trento, Italy), Mise-en Ensemble (NYC), Ensamble Taller Sonoro (Seville), and the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia; and featured in Festivals such as Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik (Witten, Germany), Darmstädter Ferienkurse (Darmstadt, Germany), Contemporary Music Days (Bogotá, Colombia), Sacred Music Festival (Madrid, Spain), Mise-en Festival (NY, USA), Casa tomada (La Habana, Cuba), among others.
I hold a BA from the Javeriana University (Bogota, Colombia), there, I studied with Guillermo Gaviria and Carlos Julio Ramirez. In 2015 I completed a Master's in music composition at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), Manchester, UK, under the tutelage of David Horne and Adam Gorb. I have had additional lessons with Pierluigi Billone, Magnus Lindberg, Brian Ferneyhough, and Javier Torres-Maldonado. In 2011 I was awarded the Colombian National Prize for Young Composers, and in 2014, the Royal Northern College of Music's Gold Medal, and the Scholarship to the Creation of Contemporary Music awarded by the Colombian Ministry of Culture.
I am currently enrolled in the DMA in composition at Cornell University studying with Marianthi Papalexandri-Alexandri and Kevin Ernste. I have also been mentored by Antoine Beuger.
