i composed the initial version of pájaros cargando memorias during two beautiful weeks of mentoring with antoine beuger in haan, germany. at that time, the piece consisted of the parts and a general score. some months after, we played the piece for the first time in LA during the dog star orchestra series, following this premiere, the piece was part of klangraum 2019, where we did several versions of it. right there, after playing different versions of the piece each day, for five days, the idea of a box arose.
the box, brings together influences from fluxboxes and ediciones sagital. i expect it will invite people to think about the physicality and uniqueness of musical scores; this is why it is not intended as a mass production object, but rather a limited copy object. the sounds that the box invite to play are high, ethereal, spaced, and gentle. Just as memories, they appear, and with time they diffuse into silence. one of the performance possibilities uses small pieces of sandpaper. I regard this a homage to antoine beuger.

this piece brings together my last experiments and pieces using different kinds of noise(s) with sine tones and the uniqueness of delivering an object as a musical score. it is a gift to an ensemble that I respect and admire, not only for their performance but also for their role in the experimental and contemporary music scenes in bogotá, colombia, during years.
translucid cards indicate sounds; color cards indicate dynamics. together they can be re-arranged to build different versions of the piece.
following my idea of unique objects, there are only four copies of this piece—two for the commissioning duo, and two for the creative team (valeria barnier and me).
